Salah El-Din Citadel

In the beginning, Eldeak Tours representative will pick you up from your hotel and start our day tour with the Citadel and the mosque of Mohamed Ali.

Salah El Din built the Citadel in 1176 and used many stones from the pyramids in Giza. The citadel played an important role in being the residence of rulers from age of Salah El Din to king Mohamed Ali.

Inside the Citadel of Salah El Din, you will see the alabaster mosque of Mohamed Ali which is built and modeled on the blue mosque in Istanbul. We will guide you inside the mosque to see the tomb of Mohamed Ali and the four Alabaster pillars.

Sultan Hassan mosque

Sultan Hassan mosque is not far from the Citadel. Sultan Hassan mosque is considered an example of Mameluke architecture and inside this mosque was the first and the largest Quran school in the world.

Al-Rifa’I mosque
Al-Rifa’I mosque

Al-Rifa’I mosque is next to the mosque of Sultan Hassan. It was built in 1902 in the same type of Sultan Hassan mosque in Mameluke style. Many important people are buried here including Al-Rifa’I himself, the last king of Egypt Farouk, and the Shah of Iran Mohamed Reza Pahlavi.

Then we will drive to the most famous eastern bazaar Khan El-Khalili which was built by the Islamic prince Djahrks El-Khalili in 1380 and faces the minaret of El-Hussein mosque. The area is very famous for all kinds of Souvenirs and treads carpets, porcelain plates, copper plates and tools, and many others items including gold, silver, gems, etc… The last stop is to have lunch in a traditional Egyptian restaurant then return you back to your hotel.
